The principle
Simplicity is not fewer clicks. It is fewer assumptions.
Wallets change. Devices disappear. Vendors change direction. Software interfaces and recovery standards evolve.
The principles underneath them change much more slowly.
My work is to understand those principles, test the complete process, and help you build a Bitcoin setup you can explain, recover, and maintain with confidence.
Two connected paths
Organize the life. Understand the tools.
Both paths start from the same place: reduce assumptions, test the whole process, and keep only the complexity you can explain.
In my framework, budgeting, debt freedom, giving and a balanced personal balance sheet come before optimizing custody. Understand the money you intend to keep, then learn how to secure it. Start with the self-custody introduction.
Custody philosophy
Custody is a progression, not a purity test.
A custody system is useful only if the people responsible for it understand it, can maintain it, and can recover it under pressure.
You do not need the final savings architecture on day one. Begin with disposable test wallets and valueless coins. Learn one wallet, practice the full lifecycle, and prove recovery before creating a fresh setup for real funds.
For long-term self-custody, I recommend Bitcoin Core on dedicated generic hardware running Debian Stable. Independent verification, encrypted redundant backups and a separately recoverable passphrase form the foundation. Learn offline signing after recovery is routine, and add further policies only when your threat model requires them.

Bitcoin Core learning path
Start small. Add complexity only when it earns its place.
The curriculum begins with the threat model and the reasons for each architectural choice. Master one wallet and prove recovery before separating the node and signer. Advanced policies remain optional.

Name the failures you must survive and the cost of each protection.

Understand why Bitcoin Core
Learn why the course chooses generic hardware, Debian Stable and independent Bitcoin verification. Initial synchronization is part of that work.

Master one simple wallet
Create, encrypt, receive and spend with one disposable Core wallet and valueless test coins.

Prove backup and recovery
Restore, spend again, change the passphrase and repeat. Make recovery ordinary before adding another computer.

Separate node and signer
Move familiar signing work offline. Learn watch-only coordination and PSBTs after mastering one wallet.

Add advanced policies only when required
Multisig changes spending authority; it is not a backup strategy. Add a policy only when you can name the threat it solves.

Why Bitcoin Core
Old-fashioned in the best possible way.
For custody, novelty is not the goal. Understanding is.
Bitcoin Core can look less polished than newer wallet products, but its model becomes coherent once you learn it: create the wallet, protect it, back it up, test the restore, and understand what must survive.
For long-term self-custody, I recommend Bitcoin Core on dedicated generic Linux hardware. The curriculum teaches Debian Stable and explains the threat model before asking you to trust that recommendation.
